My first Crabbing…

Tuesday, August 15th, 2006

When my late father was still alive my younger brother and I, and most of our siblings (except for my 2 older sisters) went fishing with my father. I just love it and even dream of having a fisherman husband just like my Father. We use to have our own boat for buying fish not for catching fish.  My Dad would buy the  fish from the fishing men sa laot then sell it at the fish vendor sa fish port. When I was about 10 years old my Dad work with one of the big time fish dealer in our City–Tito Soria’s Toto Fish Dealer. He use to be a captain/skipper of the boat who take the catch of the night (they usually catch the fish at night time or early morning) to the shore.

We like going to the sea with my Dad cause we know the next day we are going to have our share of fish–be able to sale it and made money!!! Kahit mangingisda lang ang trabaho nang tatay ko –my parents able to send my 3 older siblings to go college in Manila. Mano Bemboy in Feati University as an Architecture student; natapos niya pero di sya nag-take nang board exam. Mano Elit aka Charlie Radio eletronics sa Samsom Technical School. He is currently a city councilor and he is on his last year of his 3rd term. For the 3rd consecutive local election for City Councilor he always got the highest number of votes. —- And Mana Nene took a 2 yrs. Secretarial course in University of the East–Caloocan branch.

I never know that Billy is into fishing until we lived in Guam. He is good and knows stuff about fishing too. He caught mahi-mahi and some other kind of fishes while we were in Guam. He just got into crabbing when Jimmy told him about it 2 weeks ago. He knows I love crab—

Never been crabbing in my life but last Saturday Billy asked me If I want more crab I said YES! Of course and If I am willing to go with him Crabbing in Whidbey Island. Much better so I can see Gretchen again…asked Gretchen about it she said she would love to do crabbing.

Crabbing day- Saturday:

Soon we got inside the Sea Plane Base–I called Gretchen, and learned she was so excited about the crabbing she woke up so early. Asked her to let Kevin drop her at the Marina ( I asked Billy what the name of the place where we are going to launch the boat he told me it is Marina) Never know there’s another Marina across the Fuel pier - where we are at. Just read Gretchen Journal about our MISCOMMUNICATION Adventure ;-) and few crabbing photos. http://www.gretchen.bravejournal.com/– I did tried to upload crabing pic –puno na daw ang disk ko. ;-(

My hubby asked me to help him launched the boat–boy that was hard. The launch is stapes and got a hard time launching the boat. To launch a boat, I have to drive in reverse till the boat is by the water then step hard on the break para mahulog ang boat from the trailer. . I did it 3 times but to no LUCK! Good thing there was a kindhearted guy offered to launch the boat himself.  Did it ONE TIME!! And so nice of him to parked the Explorer for me also.

We started heading to the crabbing area of the water then Gretchen called claiming she was by the pier already. So we head back to the shore but there was no Gretchen at the Marina..she was on the OTHER Marina of the Base. WE head back to the crabbing area to drop the 2 crab pots then took care of Gretchen later.

My hubby instructed Gretchen to walk towards the Fuel pier, which is about 10 –15 minutes walk from where she was.  Found Gretchen this time—in white long sleeve–sweating from a walk under the bright hot sun!  Looking pretty pa rin si Mama kahit napagod sa exercise niya ha! Ha! Ha! We head back to the crab pot to check it, got a hard time finding them. It was too bright could hardly see the buoy.

The first pot got 3 big one and the 2nd pot got 4 big ones!!! We need 3 more big crabs to get. Gretchen was making faces when Billy put back to the water all the small size crab, she wants the small ones –too bad its illegal to get small crab here in Washington.  Habang naghihintay sa second harvest (??)  We explore the area— Billy drove the boat in a fast pace, Gretchen and me were screaming hard. So scared baka kami tumilapon sa dagat. My 3 yrs old Daughter Bianca Ann giggling and cheering her father to do it more.

Gretchen and me were talking of eating lunch at the Filipino store could not make it, the boat trailers is still hooked up/locked to the explorer.  We just had lunch at the NEX cafeteria with Chinese food. We got done at around 3 pm. I gave 2 crabs to Gretchen then she called her vanalicious Kevin to pick her up. Played with Brandon—he is getting so big and cuddly. Truly a chick magnet!!!

Got home cleaned the crabs (I took the shell off and rinse all the yellow stuff) and boiled it— eat 3 of them and freeze the left over for wintertime food. Bianca Ann is a crab lover too—she would eat just the crabmeat no rice at all.

*Note:–I did tried to update my blog last Saturday night kaso lang nagmal-funtion na naman ang friendster sa akin…hay naku!

Opps…I did it again!!!

Crabbing weekend!

Tuesday, August 8th, 2006

SATURDAY:

My hubby and his buddy Jimmy went crabbing again last Saturday. It took them awhile this time to catch the the 11 crabs. Here in WA. You are allowed to 5 crabs for each person, they had  11 cause Jimmy son Jason was with them.

While waiting for them from crabbing. I did some errands as in returns some of the stuff I bought in Target. This is one thing I love in  the US, ang daling mag sa-uli nang mga binili mo. Then I took Bianca Ann for a 45 minutes swimming at the Lake Stevens High School pool. She can swim alone with a noodle tied up on her..para lang siyang nagjo-jogging sa tubig. She loves swimming so much.

AT 3:45 pm Billy came home with 5 crabs—Jimmy got 6 crabs. I cooked ours with coconut milk and ginger. I was not able to eat the crab at the same day cause I was in  a hurry to go to the Novena in Shoreline at 5 pm. Di rin kumain nang crab ang asawa ko. I usually get the crab meat for him… since last Sunday I have been eating a crab everyday. I got 3 more left for tomorrow…tapos binigyan ulit ako nang kapitbahay ko 1 huge frozen cooked crab  this afternoon. They catched it when they went camping sa Whidbey Island. When I eat crab halos walang matira na shell puro durog yan…kahit yung maliliit na legs. ;-)

SUNDAY:

Me and Bianca Ann attended a birthday party held at the Childrens Museum in Everett. It was a Filipino birthday, course food was there! we got there a little late. People started eating already I said aloud about it and my smart child said back to me; Its ok Momma I am not going to eat I am not hungy…On the blowing of the candle–she wants to blow the candle too. And the Mother celebrant did not know that she got the magic birthday candle (yung bang di mapatay-patay ang kandila no matter anong blow mo) So all the kids had fun blowing it off, di talaga tinigilan till somebody took the candle off from the birthday cake. Bago pa mapuno nang laway ang b-day cake he!he!he!

After the cake we explore the Museums, Bianca Ann been begging me to go upstairs. It was pretty neat they have a new playground on the top roof! I love it there… sunny with cool breeze. Of course all the side of the building are secured with gate…suited for the tiny explorers.

Monday:

Laundry day! Tapos plantsa na rin ang damit ni Bianca Ann para deretso na ang paglalagay nang mga dmait niya sa closet. Bukas na lang nang madaling araw pa-plantsahin ang uniform ni Billy at mga damit ko.

Bianca Ann been begging to play with kids today–this is the hard part for me when she start looking and asking for a playmate. I cant let her have  playmate when its my laundry day…mas lalong dadami ang trabaho ko. Good thing it was still warm around 4 pm (after my Bituing walang Ning-ning) Kids (ages 7 to 11 years old) came by asking to play with Bianca Ann. I said yes and put up the sprinkler in our front yard…

TOO BAD!!!  I got NO photos to show you guys… I dont know how to do it on those photo sharing website. I do always see to it that I have pictures taken in every activities my child is in to and took pictures most of the kodak moment!

Thanks for coming by and reading my blog!!! CIAO!!

It has been good so far…….

Here’s a run down of what I and my family been up to….

Last Saturday morning my hubby went crabbing (Dunggeness kind) with Jimmy, Dorothy’s hubby. they caught 10 crabs — 5 each for them. I boiled the crab and had them for lunch. Feel kong nasa island of PInas ako– you know those typical islander family. Hubby goes fishing then come home with the catch of the day and eat together… I love it. Bianca Ann loves crab too!

At 5 pm we start heading to Shoreline to attend the Novena— the Calbayognon in Washington get together every Saturday for the Novena for Our Lady Nativity–the patron saint of Calbayog City. We do it as a potluck– I was a co-sponsor for the Novena last Saturday–my first time. Of course theres a lot of food tapos sayawan of KURADANG or Kuratsa… we did not stayed that long –we went home around 9:20. Bianca Ann just loving all the attention she is getting from everyone…. sayaw din siya when asked to shake her booty.

Heading home we were following an Ford explorer, a SUV just like mine. My ever TALKATIVE Bianca Ann , made a comment. Dad Look at that ugly car just like  MOmma’s car! …my hubby and I look at each other with my right eyebrow on the 10th floor–speechless! And I did remind my child that was not very nice, Mommy’s car might be (15 years) old  but not UGLY!!! Be thankful we have a car to drive to go places!!!

Tuesday Family Night Out:

After Bianca Ann swimming we stop by on the Lake Stevens downtown, they are having the Crime against night. They had a free bouncy, food, safety information and a lot free kiddie stuff. They even have a contest for the hula hoop—course join si Mama, and winning and Beauty kong walang ganda sa category nang 30 years old and up. I won –my prize was a Starbucks gift card. I won this category also last year… ;-)

INS fingerprint on Thursday:

My hubby took a day off yesterday from his work so he can drive me to Tukwila for my fingerprint appointment at 9 am. I have a friend Michelle offered to drive me to Tukwila if ever I  get my fingerprint appointment notice. SInce it was alright for my hubby to drive to Tukwila di ko sinabihan si Michelle. I only asked for help when my hubby cant drive me to my appoinment or to all driving that involved freeway. Senya na takot talaga ako—for the safety of everyone including myself better not to drive sa freeway ha!ha!a!

My appoinment went ok–got there at 9:15 am (its an hour drive from my house)… traffic was so bad! just glad made it a little after 9 am. They give me a book with a CD to study for my US Citizenship Exam. Traffic going back home is bad too, the Blue Angels (US NAVY JET PLANES) were practicing for the SEAFAIR this weekend— they closed the I-90 floating bridge. Good thing Bianca Ann was fell asleep and was asleep the whole time on our way home, nagising lang siya sa sound nang Ambulance and police siren.

I hope mapasa ko ang exam…Michelle told me on her interview she was not really asked about the civic questions–tinanong lang kung all her BIO info is all correct–thats It! sigh…wish me luck!!! Hopefully sa awa nang Diyos my interview will be within 8 months…
