Papa Jack Obituary
My hubby sent me Papa Jack’s Obituary last night thought to post it in here:
Jack Holly Brightwell Jr., 71 of Llano passed away peacefully surrounded by family on Thursday, June 8, 2006. He was born on December 14, 1934 in San Antonio, Texas to Jack and Modena Brightwell.
He was raised in San Antonio and graduated from Fox Tech High School leading to a 45-year career in the printing industry. Starting with the San Antonio Express Newspaper, he moved his family to Austin working for the University of Texas Press in 1957 and completed his career with the Austin American Statesman retiring 1994 after 25 years. Jack also served in the Naval Reserves.
Jack’s passion in life was building, collecting and helping friends & family. He lived his retirement dream building his home, barn and workshop in the Hill Country outside Llano.
Papa Jack is survived by his children, a son Jack Allen Brightwell of Manor; a son Billy Brightwell and wife Jessica of Lake Stevens, Washington; a son Kevin Brightwell and wife Kristi of College Station; a daughter Catherine Holly Brightwell and fiancé Kevin Ferguson of Austin; grandchildren Channa, Logan, Kyle, Garrett, Nathan, Tate, Carson, Taryn, Bianca, Trace, Isaac; brother Billy Brightwell and wife Barbara of Helotus, Texas. He is preceded in death by his parents and son Mark Brightwell.
Funeral services will be held at All Faiths Funeral Home 8507 North I.H. 35 in Austin at 11:30 a.m. Monday, June 12 with visitation starting at 10:30 a.m.. He will be laid to rest in Llano at the City Cemetery.
The family extends our thanks to all those that cared for our father. A special thanks to the Southwest Cancer Center in Austin, Llano Memorial Hospital and Hospice Austin/ Christopher House. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hospice.

We should pray for his soul Jess. Hope he is happy now with the Father Almighty.

Oh I didn’t say it right. Sorry. What I mean is that I hope he is happier where he is now with God Almighty. I am sure, he lived his life to the fullest with his family while he was still alive here on earth.

Hi Jes, just done reading your new post. Condolence diay sa inyoha diha.. esp. sa imohang hubby. OMG… after i read it, i just remember my own father. I just pray that GOD will still allow him to live life for long more years… I am very close to my papa.. papa’s girl din ako. I really miss him so much. i will try to call you one of these day Jes.. once again condolence.

Thank you all for the kind words and for your sympathy. We are doing alright—once in awhile get depressed when reality hits that Papa Jack is gone for good. Bianca Ann still ask and look for Papa Jack and we just tell her that he is one of those twinkling stars at night and Bianca Ann loves it…. Take care you all..
